Casa de Amistad (translated “House of Friendship”) is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization whose members seek to improve the lives of individuals and families in a multi-cultural community.
Our goal is to do more than just meet the immediate needs of our clients. We educate and provide the skills and resources to make long-term lifestyle changes.
Casa de Amistad is housed in the Education Building of Basic UMC. While not a direct ministry of this church, Basic UMC provides Casa with several well-equipped rooms for our operations and members of the church often volunteer their time or offer financial support. On the second floor, we operate an after-school program called Amigos Readers, adult ESL instruction, and a supply closet.
Volunteers are the lifeblood of Casa de Amistad. Without them, our goals cannot be realized. Even though a large number of our clients are Hispanic, you do not have to be fluent in or even familiar with Spanish to be involved. However, if you are looking to improve your foreign language skills or acquaint yourself with another culture, Casa de Amistad offers an excellent opportunity.
Our programs include:
Back-to-School “Backpack Attack” school supply drive
School Supply Closet
Special Occasions Projects
Saturday Basic Needs Supply Closet
Summer Enrichment Day Camp
